Education

Mr. Leitner first attended the State University of New York College at Brockport. He graduated with his B.A. in History from Stony Brook University in 1976. He then received his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in Iowa City in 1979.

Professional Experience

David began his career in 1979 as the Assistant County Attorney for Hancock, Kossuth, Mitchell, Winnebago, Franklin, and Floyd Counties. In 1981, he joined the practice of Cooper, Sinnard, and Cooper in Forest City, Iowa. He was also the Staff Attorney for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company in Grinnell, Iowa, as well as Allied Mutual Insurance Company in Des Moines.

In 1987, he joined Davis, Grace, Harvey, Horvath, Gonnerman and Rouwenhorst in Des Moines. He was also the manager at Medlink Management Services in Des Moines until 1988, when he launched his law office in West Des Moines.

Mr. Leitner has also served as an Instructor in Writing Business Ethics and Business Law at the Des Moines campus of the University of Phoenix.
